A question about the number 666
Although there is quasi-consensus that Nero is the man behind the number 666 in Revelation 13, I found two references to Vespasian. • In his book A New and Original Exposition of the Book of Revelation (1848) William L. Roy links the number 666 to the rabbinical name of the beast: ha-a vad don be-ro...

Jesus organizes a looting under the cover of darkness in Mark 1:32-34
At surface level Mark 1:32-34 recounts the miraculous healing of a multitude of sick people in the evening. The Nestle-Aland translation of these verses goes as follows: (32) That evening, at sundown, they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons. (33) And the whole city was gathere...

Re: Does Romans 1:23 refer to Roman legion standards?
Thanks Ben for checking these commentaries. It saves me a lot of time. Isn't it strange that Paul would refer to Egyptian religion here? As far as I can see this subject is not prominent in Paul's letters. However, there are quite some anti-Roman cryptograms in Paul's oeuvre, so maybe this is anothe...

Does Romans 1:23 refer to Roman legion standards?
Paul's letter to the Romans 1:22-23 goes as follows: (22) Claiming to be wise, they became fools, (23) and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man or birds or animals or reptiles. I have a small question: have the mortal man, birds, animals and reptiles above ever be...

Re: The ‘wooden house’ of Sibylline Oracles 8:198 and the appearance of the messiah
I kind of like the "wooden house" being a siege wall, but when did the child destroy "all" (line 196), and what was the "resurrection of the dead" (line 205)? Or are you saying that these lines were penned before 70 as predictions of what was going to happen? Ad line 1...

Re: Galatians 1:1-12, Paul’s most fundamental anti-Roman cryptogram
That an earlier chapter would be dependent on a later is not an obvious viewpoint in itself. In my opinion nothing in my analysis of Galatians 1:1-12 contradicts the rest of the first and the whole second chapter. As said above, Galatians 1:1-12 is fully devoted to the opposition between two gospels...

Galatians 1:1-12, Paul’s most fundamental anti-Roman cryptogram
In his book Anti-Roman Cryptograms in the New Testament – Symbolic Messages of Hope and Liberation Norman A. Beck devotes a chapter to Paul’s use of anti-Roman cryptograms. In that chapter Beck does not discuss Paul’s letter to the Galatians. Below I analyse Galatians 1:1-12, which in my opinion is ...

Walking on the water: a coded account of Jesus' visit to Mt Tabor during the flight of the Galilean rebels to Jerusalem
Recently I posted two small contributions on this forum which refer to more elaborate articles on my website. In these articles I decoded the gospel fragments ‘A Multitude at the Seaside’ and ‘The Stilling of the Storm’ as events of the revolution in Galilee. In the article below I argue that in the...

Re: Did Jesus participate in a mission to Rome?
You, FJV, believe that there was a Jesus-savior-god, seen by the populace as such. CW I do not believe there was a Jesus-savior-god. There was a man called Jesus son of Saphat, quite extensively mentioned by Josephus, who is staged as a godlike figure in the antedated, encoded gospels. With his cha...

The Tarichaean episode of the war against the Romans in Mark 3:7-12 and Matthew 8:18
Based on my political and chronological theory I decoded and rehistoricized Mark 3:7-12 in combination with Matthew 8:18. Maybe the article is too long for this forum. Anyone interested can consult it on the blog of my website. Part 1: http://www.waroriginsofchristianity.com/blog/the-tarichaean-epis...
