Re: Who's who on BC&H Forum?
I would summarize my beliefs as:
- Jesus was real. He was a messianic Essene who charismatically preached about a coming apocalypse and "the kingdom of God".
- He became most acquainted with a brand of Essenism known as the Therapeutae. With the Therapeautae, he learned some practices of medicine far ahead of their time, and many assumed his healings to be miraculous.
- After his death, his brothers led what they called "the Church", consisting of the many followers Jesus had gained; they called their brand of Judaism "the Way", and soon tried to spread it throughout the Diaspora.
- Converts throughout the Diaspora incorporated many Greek and Eastern philosophies into "the Way", making it increasingly enticing to Romans and other Gentiles.
- As Jews became increasingly aware that an apocalypse was not coming into fruition, messianic figures were abandoned en masse. Jesus' followers became the largest group to still believe in 'a Christ'. "The Way" became known as Christianity.
- Gentiles rapidly began to comprise the Christian majority, and after two full-scale wars with the Romans, Jerusalem found itself in ruins. The Christians broke off from Judaism entirely - thereby, forming the religion we know today.

Rather known by 7th hand say so.
Do you have anything other than that to base your opinion on? Any facts for instance?
You appear to be a literalist. Do you believe in talking serpents and donkeys as well?

Oh, come on. Donkeys were obviously invented by Miguel de Cervantes so that Sancho Panza might have something more comical and less noble than a horse to ride.

I am a cut above atheists, just in the sense that I was thinking that they need to create churches long before they did.davidlau17 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 12:03 pmI'm an atheist. I believe donkeys are real, yes.Gnostic Bishop wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 11:56 amRather known by 7th hand say so.

I too believe in donkeys, but not in talking ones.
They can speak to each other, but cannot talk as directly to human's.
We can surmise what animals would tell us but have to use analogies that are only a best guess.
