1st century AD (ca.). An early Jewish terracotta oil lamp. Red-slipped, with three voluted nozzles, molded with two figures of Silenus seated upon a donkey on either side with the "Menorah" beneath him.

Song 1:1 - ל שלמה "To Solomon " (not by Solomon)

τῷ Σαλωμων = τῷ Σειληνων

The Greek pluralizes שלמה into שלמון (Σαλωμων) because Silenus is used
as a plural to designate Satyr like beings or companions of Dionysus.

Silenus is depicted a riding a donkey or ass-colt in antiquity.
