Here rests Peter, son of Olympius, a Judaean by birth. He alone from his family deserved to attain the grace of Christ (Χρι) and was buried fittingly in this holy court on the 14th day of July, in the fourth indiction.

This inscription shows an abbreviation by suspension, with the first three letters (Χρι).

SEG 18:425 (ca. mid 4th century), an inscription in Rome

My name is Bassos, my homeland is the city of Babylon, and I am a defender of Christ (Χριστοῦ) both in word and in deed. Leaving my worn-out body to the earth and mortal life to men, I ascended to the heavenly path and the abodes of Christ (Χριστο[ῦ]).

The remains of Basso lie beneath the earth, but his soul, purified, has reached the air, coming to Christ (Χριστοῦ) in the ethereal realm.

Here lies the one who lived in peace for forty-eight years. He passed away after the consulship of our lords Valentinianus for the fifth time and Antalius (Anatolius), the illustrious, in the sixth month, on the seventh day. He was buried on the Paraskève day and will rise on the day of the coming of Christ (Χριστοῦ).
