Again, I am not seeing it:

Genesis 1.1-2 NASB: 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.

Genesis 1.1-2 KJV: 1 In the beginning God created the Heauen, and the Earth.
2 And the earth was without forme, and voyd, and darkenesse was vpon the face of the deepe: and the Spirit of God mooued vpon the face of the waters.

Genesis 1.1-2 Masoretic: 1

and since הארץ as the article, it doesn't need repeating.

What? This is nonsense. The article is repeated in the English, in the Hebrew, and in the Greek. Classical Latin lacks an article, so it cannot repeat in Latin.

This sort of nonsense, Ethan, is what comes of commenting on languages which you do not know.

Better translations fix the mistake, but people don't like admitting the KJV is wrong.

Gen 1:2
NIV - Now the earth
VUL - However Earth (וה)

In beginning God created Heaven and Earth however Earth was a watery-abyss and there was darkness above the-abyss
and God rose above the waters and said God, "Let there be light and there was light".

What mistake? You still have not pointed out a mistake.
