Isaiah 61:1

Post by Ethan »

לקרא לשבוים דרור ולאסורים פקח־קוח (MT)
κηρύξαι αἰχμαλώτοις ἄφεσιν καὶ τυφλοῖς ἀνάβλεψιν (Sept)

It is obvious that the Greek version of Isaiah in the Septuagint is a late-addition, due to how unclean
the translation is compared too other books, they are mismatches..

They are many ל in the MT that are untranslated in the Sept.

τό χρᾷ- ל קרא
τό ζωγρίαν - ל שבוים
ἐλευθέριον - דרור
καί - ו
τό σειραῖς - ל אסורים
οἴγω - פקח
χῃ, ἄγη - קוח

-Translation A-
To proclaim to those taken alive freedom and to open up the chains.

The word 'meek' is translated in the KJV.
- ענוים = πένησιν "one who works for his living, day-labourer, poor" (root - πόνῳ)

Isaiah 61:2 - To proclaim the acceptable year
Isaiah 58:5 - Acceptable Day
Psalm 69:13 -acceptable time

רצון = πρόσδεξις, προσδέχομαι
