King Herod in the Old Testament.

Post by Ethan »

Most of the literature in the Old Testament came about during the time of King Herod and yet the stories portray events way before they were written and yet there is so much anachronism and historical contradictions. In 1 Kings 11:17, there is a character called Hadad, but his name is Ader in Greek, because throughout the Hebrew-Bible, in both the LXX & MSS, the D and R are confused with each other and thus, Hadad could also have being the name 'Herod' .

There is a duplication in 1 Kings 11 & 1 Kings 14.

Pharaoah gave to Hadad, the sister of Thekemina his wife ( 1 Kings 12:24e)
Sousakim gave to Jeroboam, Ano the eldest sister of Thekemina his wife ( 1 Kings 11:19)

The son of Hadad was Genubath - G'NBT (גנבת )
The father of Jeroboam was Nebat - NBT (נבט) * Ναβατ

* This suggests Hadad & Jeroboam are the same character.
* Hadad is described as a Edomite
* Another author wrote from 1 Kings 11:13.
* Judges 7:1 - Well of Herod

Herod the Idumaean > Hadad the Edomite

The family of Herod are also known as Nabataeans * NABAT

There is another 'Hadad the Edomite' in Genesis 36:35 , his father was Badad, but written Barad in the Septuagint
and thus can also have being Badar ( Pater ) . * Antipater father of Herod.

The name Talmai is the Aramaic rendering of Ptolemy and a named-character appears in Numbers 13:22 and in 2 Samuel 3:3, the daughter of Talmai, married David. Solomoh is also a valid Hebrew rendering of Ptolomy and David is a reading of Adelphidos (Sng 2:16) i.e Philadelphus , thus the stories of David-Solomon are 1st century BCE ( not 10th) .
