Ötzi the Iceman has never been mentioned here before? What I find telling, the initial Bad Theory of expert scientists was overwritten by artisan-craftspeople who actually knew what they were talking about: yep, living tattoo artists.

Found high in the Tyrolean Alps in 1991, Ötzi the Iceman had dark skin and eyes and was likely bald. His remarkably well-preserved remains, frozen beneath ice for about 5,300 years, revealed 61 tattoos inked all over his body.

How and why Ötzi, perhaps the world’s most studied corpse, got the body art has long been a source of fascination.
