Not lazy as much as just ignorant. Thank you for that link.

What I'm looking for is how the IC and XC is being rendered. And here it is...

Here, better some overlap than "underlap"

https://chesterbeatty.ie/assets/uploads ... ic-Opt.pdf

Page 18 of the PDF is the title page, transcribed. Line 16 on page 20 is the first hit I believe. I'm now trying to locate the real MS, but on mobile

The Beatty collections are gigantic and pristine by the way.
Having said that, do we agree that the first IHSOUS is in this MS, describing Joshua, and it is in Coptic? And it greatly deviates from later versions, even in Sahidic?
Did this not get picked up upon then, or was this just a wild try out?

Anyway, it is very exciting

It does seem that this is the case. And, yes, very exciting and interesting.

Well, the transcription is by Kasser, and I must see the real MSS for that very reason: don't forget that the entire Coptic tradition has gone through the hands of a dozen or so biased white middle aged males. I really have to see the front page where IHSOUS allegedly is written out in full only once. But with the name index on page 76 containing around 50 occurrences of IHS, this is a lot of fun. There would appear to be a Greek version of this as well, but haven't located it so far
