Essentially, your theory is that a sect invented a story (parody) by using the life of a rival sectarian as actor.
do you think that behind Mark there were Philonians and Roman authorities?
In what measure were they both ?
Are you influenced by Atwill in assuming Romans behind Mark ?

James Valliant and Warren Fahy. The household of Titus converted to what Pliny the Younger referred to as Christianity. This is the same group Epaphroditus and Josephus are involved with. They are behind mark.Giuseppe wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 9:50 am Essentially, your theory is that a sect invented a story (parody) by using the life of a rival sectarian as actor.

No, Atwill's thesis just doesn't work.
Re: Theudas As The Historical Jesus
Are you aware that, according to Mythicist Vaneigem:
- Theudas may be Dositheus
- Dositheus may be the Dustan about which the Arab historian Abu’l Fath writes:
“Men will know the resurrection because Dusis is dead from a shameful death and because Levy was stoned; because if Dusis was really dead, then all of the just men of the earth would [also] be dead.”

- the "shameful death" of Dusis/Dustan/Dositheus could be the crucifixion
- Theudas could have been confused (or vice versa) with the Samaritan false prophet defeated by Pilate, about which Josephus doesn't report explicitly the death, saying only that the principal chiefs of the revolt were "punished".

I think the Samaritan prophet was Dositheos, more or less. Who would have been compared with John the Baptist.Giuseppe wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 4:52 am Are you aware that, according to Mythicist Vaneigem:

Theudas was beheaded after being captured without - it appears - a major battle. That's pretty shameful.
Mark's parody gospel accidentally becomes history by third century, and here is born the literal resurrection doctrine. It's possible that late Christian doctrines were back read into earlier Christian myths by later writers.
Theudas was made into John the Baptist by Mark. So, this is how Dositheos, John the Baptist, and Jesus could all be confused by a later writer.
