Celestial crucifixion in Matthew 24:30

Post by Giuseppe »

“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory"

(Matthew 24:30)

"in heaven" == in outer space.

The apparition of the "sign of the Son of Man" (==celestial cross) was historicized by the Passion Story. So what remains on the mouth of Jesus is the rest of the prophecy:

... the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory

My point is that the prophecy of "sign of the Son of Man in heaven" (τὸ σημεῖον τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ) has been part of the older visions.

The "sign" was the celestial crucifixion.
  • The "sign of the Son of Man in heaven" was before predicted.
  • Then the "sign of the Son of Man in heaven" was hallucinated.
  • Then the "sign of the Son of Man in heaven" was historicized.
All the rest is history.

I am right, here, sorry. Completely.

The best candidate for "the sign of the Son of Man in heaven" is the celestial cross.

If you don't give another candidate for it in real time, then I should insult you. Again.

The sign of the Son of Man in heaven can be anything, from Pisces or Aries, to Cygnus, to an eclipse, or any number of celestial phenomenon. It could even have been a supernova.

But what it cannot have been is a celestial "crucifixion" because that is neither a sign or a prophetic fulfillment.

A "sign" is by definition a miracle in the Gospel tradition, and the crucifixion in outer space is a miracle for a hallucinator who "saw" it.

And the crucifixion is a prophetic fulfillment.

Matthew 16:4
An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.

I wonder if the sign of the Son of Man was meant originally as the sign of Jonah.

Try to replace it in the passage and we have:

An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the Son of Man in heaven.

Translated, for the equation above:

An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the crucifixion of Jesus in heaven.

But then the scribes and pharisees may be allegory of Christians who believe only about a sign of Jesus, his crucifixion in outer space, and therefore they reject the Gospel Jesus.

Well that's not what the passage says and there is no textual variation of what you are suggesting, so it is a waste of time. You're only option is to literally rewrite the text to make it fit your claim.

Was there also a man in outer space who got swallowed by a space whale too?

My incipit was: "I wonder". The wonder is the beginning of discovery.
