According to Volkmar, the pauline "Mark" invented the story of the betrayal of Judah to make room for Paul as the 12° apostle in the place of Judas. Unfortunately for him, the Judaizers were more rapid by inventing the story of the Election of Matthias in the place of Judas, as reported in Acts.
