Church fathers and the "coming of the son of man"

Post by bskeptic »

Matthew 24

[30] And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
[31] And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Was the "coming of the Son of man" ever seen as already fulfilled by any church fathers?

Of course there are "preterist" Christians today that think it was fulfilled in the first century, and such an interpretation certainly goes back hundreds of years. But can it be found in early Christianity?

Only spirit, the body goes back to dust, from where it came

Man / Son of Man doesn't have spirit with which to go to heaven? Why?

Also, bodies can't go to heaven? Why?
