The Herod's soldiers : is their function symbolical of demons?

Post by Giuseppe »

Then Herod with his soldiers ridiculed and mocked him. Dressing him in an elegant robe, they sent him back to Pilate

(Luke 23:11)

The episode is not really realistic. Can we imagine the entire army of Herod to share the show?

Why was not only Herod, alone, sufficient to mock Jesus?

The reason is that any occurrence of soldiers met en bloc by Jesus works as a kind of filter or firewall. Jesus passes through them just as it would be expected for the Son in Ascension of Isaiah to pass the heaven populated by demons to go to the further heaven below.

Hence, he assumes a new "elegant robe" (a new body) as effect of the successful passage through these "soldiers"/demons.
