''reached out his hand and touched the man'' as an anti-marcionite interpolation

Post by Giuseppe »

While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
13 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.
14 Then Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
15 Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

(Luke 5:12-15)

if the condition for the miracle is simply the free will of Jesus - who he makes an explicit act by answering ''I am willing'' - then why the need of specify that Jesus ''reached out his hand and touched the man'' ?

It is surely an interpolation, with the entire verse 14, against Marcion, the marcionite Jesus having notoriously not a body.

Since Marcion hated the matter and the his creator, the Demiurge.

Nevertheless the text is attested for Marcion and also the command to follow the law of of Moses

12 While he was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man full of leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell on his face, and begged him, saying, “Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.” 13 He stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be made clean.” Immediately the leprosy left him. 14 He commanded him to tell no one, “But go your way, and show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift for your cleansing according to what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them [Marcion: so that this might be for a testimony to you].” 15 But the report concerning him spread much more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. 16 But he withdrew himself into the desert, and prayed.
