Is Herod a good person in Mark?

Post by Giuseppe »

Clearly so.

I wonder: why does a judaizing Gospel - as the Gospel of Peter or the Gospel of Matthew - describe negatively Herod?

Remember that in the Gospel of Peter Herod is more powerful than Pilate.

Surely the answer is that there cannot be two kings of Jews.

So for Mark Jesus is not interested to be king of Jews in a traditional sense. Jesus is totally depoliticized in Mark.
