Ariel Sabar's Atlantic article is good on biography but not so much on the text.
All evidence, including those items in the JTS archives, would need to be assessed.
Who, for instance, has compared and collated all transcriptions, including Smith's early unpublished handwritten transcription?
Nobody.
I hope someone better qualified than I am
will do so.
