The Reason Why Luke Was Invented

Having reread Irenaeus's Book Three, I think the Acts of the Apostles provides a critical link in defending the gospel writers. By having the Holy Spirit descend on the apostles, Luke provides Irenaeus with the ability to defend against the charge Celsus learned from the Marcionites, namely that the apostles wrote the original gospels imperfectly. This was the reason Luke was invented. The original understanding has Mark write a gospel and then Matthew corrects it.
