The Martyrium Ignatii account

Post by rgprice »

I've tried to find English translations of the Martyrium Ignatii but have not been able to do so. Is there much scholarship on this work? I'm interested in potential parallels between the Martyrium Ignatii and Acts of the Apostles in how they relate to associated letter collections. Does anyone know when the Martyrium Ignatii was written?

See Martyrdom of Ignatius In its present form this is a late work of little historical value.

Thanks Andrew. Do you happen to know of any other examples from around this period, Christian or not, of letter collections that were accompanied by or inspired the writing of, biographies?
