John the baptist in the prologue of the Gospel of John

Post by lsayre »

It appears as if verses 6, 7, and 8 are interpolations, as they disrupt the continuity of the prologues poetry.

You are in good company. Teeple has 6 - 8 as the "E" - "Editor" - the next-to-last Compiler of John:

"E

6 There was [egeneto] a man sent [amstello] from [para] God, the name to him (was) John [an.]. 7 This one came for a testimony, in order that he might testify about the Light, in order that all might believe through him. 8 That one was not the LIGHT, but (he came) in order that he might testify about the Light."
