KJV Tampering as a precursor to Sinaiaticus Fraud

Post by ebion »

The AV 1611 KJV has been tampered with to both major and minor extents, which adds to it's problems. It's relatively easy to see what has been tampered with, because by the King James I Rules Of Translation, it was based on the Bishop's bible.
  1. The ordinary Bible read in the Church, commonly called the Bishops Bible, to be followed, and as little altered as the Truth of the original will permit.
The Bishop's bible was one of the family of Tyndale bibles, and so it's easy to compare the good Tyndale bibles to the later KJV. We are discussing deliberate tampering - pious frauds as Sir Issac Newton called them - not TR errors.

Although they pale in comparison to the Wescott and Hort wholesale re-engineering, we collect some of them here for reference. It's easy enough to make a list and format it up as a commentary that can be read alongside a KJV as corrections. KJV is the reference because of versification but there is no need to remain ignorant of its errors and tampering.

Additionally, knowing the errors and tamperings in the KJV is a useful weapon in the fight against the pernicious modern heresy known as "King James Onlyism" KJOnlyism.

PS: we don't reply to posts in this thread by StephenGoranson,SecretAlias,Ulan as we do not see them.

Major KJV Tampering

The most major tampering in the KJV was by King James himself. When King James commissioned the King James Version, he decreed 15 principles of translation which were instituted by Richard Bancroft, the bishop of London in 1604. The 3rd rule was:
3. The Old Ecclesiastical Words to be kept, viz. the Word Church not to be translated Congregation et. cetera.
Rule 3 is a travesty of Tyndale's work. Whilst running and hiding and fleeing the agents of a sadistic English Lord Chancellor who wanted him dead, he still took the time to write a book back at the sadist defending his translation of ekklesia as "Congregation" not "the Word Church". The book explains in detail Tyndales's reasons for the critical choices of translation he made of the "et. cetera" words. These changes are major and systematic, and change the whole flavour of the KJV relative to a real Tyndale bible like Matthew's, which nonetheless are the root of the bibles that the KJV was made from (rules 1 and 14).

The top 5 of the "et. cetera" words that Tyndale translated differently from what King James I decreed are:
  • He translated ekklesia as congregation, not church. (Luther avoided the word Kirche, preferring instead Gemeinde.)
  • He translated presbuteros as elder, not priest.
  • He translated metanoeo as repent, not do penance.
  • He translated exomologeo as acknowledge, rather than do confession.
  • He translated agape as love, not charity.
Which gives a very different flavour to reading a Tyndale Matthew's bible from a KJV, and makes the KJV, which was explicitly based on a Tyndale bible, a bible that has been altered to give the text a pro-ecclesiastical direction. The first 4 of those 5 words are explicitly ecclesiastical support for the Church.

KJV Notes exhaustive-listing-marginal-notes-1611-edition

Post by ebion »

Knowing the errors and choices made in the KJV is a useful weapon in the fight against the pernicious modern heresy known as "King James Onlyism". Starting in the late 1800s, the Bible Societies intentionall stripped out the Notes to the Reader preface, and the footnotes. The preface said explicitly that the KJV was not God's word, just their best effort, and footnotes explained in passing some of the choices that were made.

From notes-1611-edition-king-james-bible we have formatted up the NT footnotes, and have attached the full set NT+OT in TSV.

We could use these to make a Commentary to be read alongside the bible.

Re: KJV Tampering

ebion wrote: Thu Oct 26, 2023 5:02 pm The AV 1611 KJV has been tampered with to both major and minor extents, which adds to it's problems.

Additionally, knowing the errors and tamperings in the KJV is a useful weapon in the fight against the pernicious modern heresy known as "King James Onlyism".
KJO's are, imo, a little coocoo in the coconut.

Just earliest source material for me thank you.

Cocoos you can pack off to the looney bin: KJOs are much more dangerous. They're insidious: they've taken over the bible publishing houses and the churches.

I was at a bible study group of a large American church with a KJO pastor and its prey. They were going on about washing their sins in the blood of a dead god, which is pure Marcionism. But they would have none of it: they had the "Word of God" - they had the KJV.

The KJVs that they had been Bible Societyed: no footnotes, no Preface to the Reader that says explicity that thus is not the Word of God: that the KJV was the best a bunch of paid academics and clergy could do under the (mis)translation rules set down by James. The bible study group's idea of bible study was reading a few verses, without any critical study of the text, with lengthy bouts of the pastor listening to himself talk. They droned on and on how Jesus had died for their sins, and they had nothing to do to be saved by Grace.

Sin is barely mentioned by Jesus; it all of the synoptics the word only comes up twice, and only once by Jesus:
Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. (Matthew 12:31 [KJV])
He never talks about sin in the sense of personal sin.

They were downright hostile to studying the text. I asked if we could "study" Revelations 2, which IMHO is the best polemic against Paulunism ever written, and got turned down cold: the pastor lied outright when he said to the group Revelations 2 was not about Paul. And after a while I realized that this was intentional: KJO pastors are being paid by their churches to dumb down Christians. I can only see KJOnlyism as an attack on Christianity.

Treating KJOs as mentally deranged, fails to recognize the virilent aspect of the disease: From watch-unto-prayer.org:
When we first took a stand for the King James Bible many years ago, it never occurred to us that “King James-Only” meant “no Greek and no Hebrew.” [or Aramaic - ed.]

It was upon reading Gail Riplinger’s most recent book, that we discovered that the term “KJV-Only” was to be taken literally. It means that the King James Bible alone is divinely inspired, perfect and superior to all other translations and texts, including the Greek Textus Receptus and the Hebrew Masoretic Text.

Gail Riplinger’s book, In Awe of Thy Word, is both a broadside attack on the Greek Textus Receptus and an introduction to Kabbalah, which is Jewish occultism. Yet the heretical nature of Riplinger’s book goes undetected by many in the King James-Only community probably because her best-seller, New Age Bible Versions, seemed to uphold the Textus Receptus as the standard text for New Testament translation. When it became apparent that Gail Riplinger had done a volte face on the superiority of the Greek Textus Receptus, it was time for us to reexamine her teachings and to confront many false teachings of King James Onlyism; for there appears to be a “conspiracy of silence” among KJV-Only leaders as Gail takes the movement to a new level of heresy.
I've developed some rules for Christians surfing sites:
  1. If you see Gail Riplinger treated with anything less than Derision, let it be anathema.
  2. If you see James H. Sightler treated as someone with something to say on Christianity, let it be anathema.
  3. If you see the site panhandling for James Knox, let it be anathema.
  4. If you see it speak of the Codex Sinaitcus as anything other than a Fraud (or it's spawn: NIV) , let it be anathema.
  5. If you see it speak of the Codex Vaticanus as anything other than Trash that Erasmus would not look at (or it's spawn: NIV...), let it be anathema.
Just earliest source material in the right language for me; happy anathema-free surfing!

I hate to tell you this ebion, you seem like a nice enough guy, but I consider all of XCaninty pure fiction. Created by Greeks and Romans, for use by Greeks and Romans, that they appropriated from the Jewish people like they did with so many other cultures.

Sorry.

Plans of our enemies to eradicate and enslave us

I used to be able to think like that, and but then in digging into the texts I came across the plans of our enemies to eradicate and enslave us, and the importance they attach specifically to destroying Christianity.

Sorta like: it doesn't matter if you believe in Satan if you have enemies that do. You had better study their plans and know everything there is to know, whether you are a believer or not. Look at how Disney is not only woke, but Satanic. How your laws have been changed to make reading a NTBible a "hate crime". How asking for the truth about DoD countermeasures that they are injecting globally is a criminal offence. And how your tax dollars are funding the Brigades or the Units or the Agencies that are spamming our forums.

They're most worried about Christianity, so they use wars of religion to attack it. And by the same token, I've come to appreciate that an authentic Chritianity, without the perversions of the Constantinian/Mithran churches, is the best tool we have to fight their enslavement. Whether you are a believer or not.

PS: If you're not paranoid, it just means you haven't been paying attention :-,)

Tampering in both Tyndale and KJV, but not the PeshittA? (Acts 16:16 )

This came up on another thread on the Author of Acts:

Acts is not to be ignored, but rather plumbed. Read Mauck, or look at del Tondo's reviews of Mauck's book on del Tondo's YouTube channel:

I was really impressed with the details that they bring out of the work by the Author of Acts. AoA is very subtle in lacing Acts with pro-pagan references for the Roman prosecutor, which at the same time condemn Paul to Christians. There was a lot riding on the trial: death to all Christians in the Roman Empire!

Look at del Tondo's videos on the Pythia: See how Tyndale's and the KJV brush over the reference:
And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: (Acts 16:16 [KJV])

And It fortuned as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit that prophesied met us, which brought her master and masters much vantage with prophesying. (Acts 16:16 [TyNT])
I bet most Christians see nothing in that verse, and yet it is a condemnation of Paul for going to the highest ranking Pagan goddess site for approval - and getting it! You can only see something in Young's Literal Translation:
And it came to pass in our going on to prayer, a certain maid, having a spirit of Python, did meet us, who brought much employment to her masters by soothsaying, (Acts 16:16 [YLT])
You can see it in the PeshittA:
And it happened, that when we went unto The Prayer House, a certain young girl met us, in whom there was a spirit of divination. And she had performed for her lords/masters much business by her divining of divination. (Acts 16:16 [HAS])
The tampering to brush over the fact that Paul is going to the Pagan Priestess for approval, but it's not just KJV tampering - it follows Tyndale.

Thanks ebion!

This is valuable information that I've been seeking. What you have offered here, with such brevity and focus, is hard to find!

What about 1) NKJV and 2) NKJV Study Bible?
