I have written before that it may be worth considering that Smith wrote "the secret Gospel of Mark,"
in part, for Scholem.
Smith presented Jesus as a parallel to Sabbatai Zevi.
Scholem was not impressed by that analogy, though.

Ok you accuse everyone of distraction. The certificate mentions only the letter of Clement. Andrew introduced the secret gospel as a way of distraction. You perpetuated it. The original discussion was about the letter of Clement and whether the certificate of authenticity meant the letter was known prior to 1958. But this is what you guys do.

It was Smith who introduced "the secret Gospel of Mark."

You got to be kidding me. We were having a discussion about the certificate of authenticity and its implications. Whenever you accuse anyone at the forum of "deflection" remember this conversation.

If I read you right, Mr. Alias, you hold:
that Agamemnon Tselikas is the best Greek paleographer, who should be listened to, except when you say so,
that Andrew Criddle is the best commenter here, who should be listened to, except when you say so,
and
that the Gospel of Mark is bogus, except for the Secret Mark verses.

Deflection from an accusation of deflection. You could teach a course on deflection. Write a handbook.

No Greek monks knew of the "Letter to Theodore" before 1958, or 1959.

Our conversation was about whether Smith could have mentioned the discovery of the letter of Clement to Seraphim or another monk.

He did not. Not in 1958 nor 1959.
Smith did not go to the Jerusalem library to look for similar handwriting, either.
