The discussion was about which list of commandments is favourable - The 10 Commandments, or your Gnostic ones.

Modern law is based on the 10 Commandments, and do take into consideration the plight of the victim and the motive of the perpetrator. Since the 10 Commandments can thus already incorporate this version of 'justice', then there is no need to replace them. And we are talking about the 10 Commandments, not the whole body of Mosaic Law.

How do you get justice out of women being in the possession commandment?

If secular laws are from the though shalt not kill commandment, they would not be though shalt not murder, as murder is not the same as killing.

In Gnostic Christianity, all commandments and laws are subjective, not objectives, as there can be imagined scenarios where killing and even murder are justifiable. That is what my first Gnostic Christian commandment says.

As I've already pointed out, our present laws are based on the 10 Commandments, and already incorporate your extras. They are no 'better'. Just differently worded.

Your objection to the 10 Commandments seems to rest on just one of them - the last one about coveting. And not even the whole of it - just the bit about coveting your neighbour's wife. Far simpler just to ignore that part, rather than attempt a complete rewrite.

I also object to the first few that are self-centered.

Ignoring the coveting commandment when it is the cause of so much misery for women is quite immoral and it seems you ignore all the misogyny that Christianity fosters.

Ignoring the immorality of the commandments and your God's views is sel-serving to the max.

God does not belong to me.

The commandments you espouse are no less useless - everyone is equal before the law, unless someone else (the victim) says so; the golden rule only applies by the dictates of emotions; you want to rely on logic and reason, but emotions only follow logic and reason in a minority of cases; good should be returned with good - but what good do I get by limiting my desires for the imagined benefit of future generations?

All other species put the next generation ahead of their own desires. I ignore that if you like.

I guess that you do not have children.

Nature favours the survival of the fittest. I brought my children up to survive, not to rely on ancestral altruism.
