Re: The crucifixion: alternate times and places.

Well, he only became king in 41, so I assumed the regnal dates would start then, but I could be wrong.

Cargo cult scholarship. Use big words and pretend you're doing something intellectual while you steer your "research" toward pre-determined findings.

Re: The crucifixion: alternate times and places.

(Is 60 CE a mistake on your part, though?) Quite possibly, I was just copying from my notes. 61 would be the 20th year of Agrippa I's reign had he lived that long. (Of course, he died in 44.) If Epiphanius meant Agrippa II, we're looking at the year 73 or so. If he meant Antipas, the 20th year of h...

Re: Jesus in the 30's ad

IMO, the 1 Thessalonians letter shows the expectations of Paul and his crew for the imminent arrival of the Lord.

Re: Book - Parables of Enoch: A Paradigm Shift

I'm not up to date on Enoch scholarship, but I sort of assumed that the Parables of Enoch was part of the apocalyptic "Son of Man" tradition that was invented by Jews and adopted as a descriptor of Christ by Christians. It's not the only place we find pre-Christian "son of Man" e...

Re: Against the Idiotic Belief that Our Texts Are Pristine

Thanks for the link.

I have read some of God's Word Omitted, and Reading the Fractures of Genesis is languishing on my bookshelf at the moment. I really need to get back to it.

Re: Origen -- A Basic Stylometric Study

Out of curiosity, have you considered comparing 3 Corinthians to the other epistles?
