Re: Diatessaron a Misnomer? The Evidence of Ephrem's Commen

Just out of curiosity, am I the only one who sees all of the text cited from Syriac sources in Stephan's o.p. as an unintelligible string of boxes interspersed with a few recognizable characters?

Re: Anachronisms in Genesis

Question for big-brained ancient language people: would i be right in assuming that the occurrences of aramaic discussed are present both in the Leningrad Codex and the Dead Sea Scrolls? I don't know if big-headed and big-brained are synonymous, but on the DSS the fragments of Genesis found there l...

I have already pointed out that Paul gives no indication in Galatians that the Jerusalemites knew anything about Jesus,
IMO the entire book of Galatians is indication that the Jerusalemites knew a lot about Jesus,

Re: Paul and his revelation

I don't have time for a long discussion, but would like to know your thoughts on this, at least, as previously when I asked you seemed to dance around the questions. I have dealt with all of these issues at length on the previous forum. You are commenting on an explanation I gave to Bernard, but se...

Re: Historicity of Jesus - the Talking Points

I don't see what the change of date does in this equation. Paul's epistles don't provide any evidence for historicity, unless you're willing to concede that other people's beliefs, such as those regarding a human Hercules, is evidence for the historicity of the figures behind those beliefs. That's ...

Re: Historicity of Jesus - the Talking Points

My present opinion is that the strongest possible non-HJ hypothesis would put the epistles of Paul after 70 AD and concede awareness of a human Jesus Christ to them. I don't see what the change of date does in this equation. Paul's epistles don't provide any evidence for historicity, unless you're ...

Paul and his revelation

It seems to me that you are not dealing with historicity, but the transformation of Paul's beliefs into facts. Whether Paul believes Jesus was a Jew who was crucified or not sheds no light on the historicity of Jesus. Spin, I find your position rather puzzling. Do you care to explain it? In Galatia...

Re: The Pauline Gospel was a Late Invention

It works just fine. I sometimes think it is worthwhile pointing out your blu dn ers to the world. These reveries of yours which string together assertions, naive-literalist readings of source materials, failures in basic reasoning and a host of other joys don't seem like they are ever going to impr...
