Re: Witnessing the Divine

I meant why question the obvious metaphor of omens predicting the birth of a savior king. Here is something from the records of Ardashir One day Artabanus invited to his presence the sages and astrologers, who belonged to his court, and put them the following question: "What do you observe reg...

Witnessing the Divine

The Magi in Art and Literature Nevertheless, or perhaps because of this, the legend of the magi has fired the imagination of Christians since the earliest times. In art, the adoration of the magi appeared earlier and far more frequently than any other scene of Jesus’ birth and infancy, including im...

Re: Did Moses Exist? The Myth of the Israelite Lawgiver

I always find it odd that no one ever mentions books 6 and 7......who wrote those? Moses supposedly? They began to appear in the 18th or 19th Century. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixth_and_Seventh_Books_of_Moses What about the Jewish Historian Artapanus? He is named by Eusebius in his Evangelicae P...

Mark 16:12 speaks of him appearing in another form:

12 After that, He appeared in another form to two of them as they walked and went into the country.

Re: Papyrus Fragment Bears Early Christian Prayers

I've been corresponding with her on Facebook. Her overarching point was that the media is exaggerating the significance of the discovery OK, I did not know if anyone here knew of it so I posted it.... Thing I am interested in is the Coptic Text.....what exactly is that? Did the Egyptians use Coptic?

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND—A fragment of a 1,500-year-old papyrus charm from Egypt in the John Rylands Library at Manchester University is “the first ever found to refer to the Last Supper and use magic in the Christian context,” according to Roberta Mazza of the new John Rylands Research Institute. http:...
