Re: Why did Marcion adopt the gospel of Luke?

I believe that it is only quite recently that Matthias Klinghardt has come to the conclusion that Marcion preceded Mark. In most of what can be found on the internet it appears that he is still of the opinion that Marcion built upon Mark as his base and only influenced Matthew and Luke.

Re: Why did Marcion adopt the gospel of Luke?

Who confirmed that Mark was earlier? Present day researchers seem to be coming around to believing that Marcion's Gospel of the Lord came first.

Matthias Klinghardt and Markus Vinzent for example.

April DeConick's fascinating take on John 8:44

April D. DeConick has an interesting take on John 8:44. She states that the literal translation is: "You are from the father of the Devil." Here is the link to her fascinating dissertation on this subject. Click on the "View/Open" hyperlink within. https://scholarship.rice.edu/ha...

Re: Paul's Letters: Did someone insert Christ into them late

It's more than just Paul speaking from beyond the grave. I actually get the perception that Paul himself is speaking as a (or perhaps even "the") risen one. It is difficult to convey this by grabbing at random passages as if they were straws of coherent content in order to place them befor...

Re: Paul's Letters: Did someone insert Christ into them late

Another perception I have when reading Paul's letters is that (at least in some of them) he appears to be speaking from beyond the grave.
