Re: Scapegoat Sacrifice and the Crucifixion
I really think this investigation has led me to something important. I think I can reconcile the Passover and Yom Kippur allegories in Paul. This might even be worth a paper. Re: Thou art Peter and upon this rock
I can see 'Rabbi' being an anachronism. But the Pharisees? Josephus certainly mentioned them. Schiffmann and others argue their halakhah is criticized in the DSS. How are the Pharisees an anachronism? Maybe your point is that there are no Pharisees in Galilee. Hmmm.

Re: Scapegoat Sacrifice and the Crucifixion
Back to the sacrifice of the goat. I think I found something significant. Here is a description of the relevant ceremony during the time of the temple: The Scapegoat Ritual in the First Century CE By the first century CE, the scapegoat ritual had become more elaborate than its counterpart in Levitic...

Re: Scapegoat Sacrifice and the Crucifixion
I've read bits and pieces, but subscribers (adherents?) to the idea of Marcionite-primacy have the advantage of explaining that 'incoherence' - viz. HEAVY second century interpolation ...

Re: Scapegoat Sacrifice and the Crucifixion
Well it depends what you mean by scripturally obedient Jews. When I used the term I meant Paul believed that the scriptures (Isaiah etc) knew and foretold the future, that they had the power of the spirit. For instance that the Law commanded all the commandments be fulfilled etc. It wasn't like he w...

Re: Scapegoat Sacrifice and the Crucifixion
And I think this points to the underlying danger of mythicism which traditional scholarship is quite aware of. I coined the term 'white mythicism' because I wanted to shine light on the fact that ever since Drews there has been a tendency of mythicism to reflect the POV of the mythicist. An obvious ...

Re: Scapegoat Sacrifice and the Crucifixion
FWIW I cursory examination of Barnabas reveals no explicit reference to Passover only Yom Kippur.
