Re: Was Isaiah a false prophet?

Hilkiah probably means μεῖραξ Διός "young man of Zeus" or alternatively
σκύλαξ Διός cf. εἴρην Διός/Jeremiah

Shaphan and Shebna are probably the same name equivalent to the New Testament name Sceva. From σκύμνος.

Sheba/ σκύμνος; of women.

Re: Was Isaiah a false prophet?

Isaiah 36:22 Eliakim son of Hilkiah , was over the household Shebna the scribe Joah son of Asaph, the recorder. This would suggest that Isaiah didn't write the Book of Isaiah, instead his prophecies were written down by a scribe. 2 Kings 22:8 (Josiah) Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the s...

Re: Was Isaiah a false prophet?

Ctesias was a Greek physician and historian to the Achaemenid king Artaxerxes II His six books covered the history of Assyria and Babylon to the foundation of the Persian empire. This parallels the Old Testament and Isaiah, which covers Assyria and Babylon to the foundation of Persia. I believe the ...

Re: Isaiah 41:19 & Isaiah 60:13

Mark 1:3 reads 'in the wilderness' translating ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ which in Hebrew would be מערבה "In the Arabia" however this is quoting Isaiah 40:3 במדבר that is ἐν τῇ ἀνύδρῳ "In the Arid land". In Mark 1 Jesus encounters John in this "wilderness" is perhaps the very encounte...
