Re: A lengthy note on Hebrews 9.24 (into heaven itself).
http://www.soundingthetrumpet.com/tab.gif Well if Jesus's sacrifice is paralleling those of the temple cult, he would be killed at the altar, as shown to the right in the diagram. This would still be within the gates of the temple itself, and if the analogy is strictly kept then I can't imagine tha...

Re: A lengthy note on Hebrews 9.24 (into heaven itself).
There is a necessity, therefore, for the copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these [kinds of sacrifices], but the heavenly things themselves with sacrifices better than these. For Christ did not go into holies made with hands , antitypes of the true ones, but rather into heaven ...

Re: Joseph of Arimathea.
To clarify, the Greek of Mark 15.21 seems to treat Cyrenian as a surname, not Cyrene ; since a Cyrenian is a person from Cyrene, the element of from is not exactly absent. Ah thanks for pitching in there. I didn't have Time to look it up when I wrote that. Also to SH, I see what you mean about it b...

Re: Joseph of Arimathea.
Why would Joseph be identified as of 'another city' when he was in Jerusalem, had his family sepulcher there and owned a garden or an orchard in the city? My recent reading on the classical period suggested wealthy individuals were well known to own properties in multiple locales, especially where ...

Re: Earliest Jesus stratum?
Only these two groups would arrive at these two respective conclusions against their erstwhile interest. That is why they are worth hearing from. Others, including mythicists, would obviously not be. That's why only the two groups A) and B) are worth our time here -- in my view. Like others said yo...

Re: Basic Stylometry Beta (early access)
I agree with the general idea that Jeff is talking about. What I ended up doing is putting each author (or each sample) on a single line in my text files. Hell yea heh! That's a great idea! Put each document as one long line in your text file (along with the common word formulas and all, if ...

Re: Basic Stylometry Beta (early access)
Hey this is a tip that I'd venture other users could find useful: Selected (highlighted) text in a program like Note/Wordpad can be unproblematically dragged right into any of the boxes in Peter's program. To quickly select a single, entire line of text in (e.g.) Wordpad, triple click anywhere withi...

Re: Why was invented Paul?
In case of Paul (in reference to case raised from his name) we have: 1) the hostile metaphor of Matthew against the free-Torah ''least''. Okay, that all makes perfect sense then. Thanks. For me, the most natural conclusion to draw is: Matt wants to keep the Law (unlike some Christians he knows), a ...

Re: Why was invented Paul?
I have actually mused over a personal hypothesis (probably harebrained), that Paul might have been of small stature and possibly even a dwarf. I have wondered this (and I am not arguing for it, just wondering if its possible), not only because of the name, but also because of the story he tells abo...
