Re: Origins and the problem of evil
Generalities: ---------------- As to #1, I'm not sure that any ancient religion had a full blown conception of literal creation from nothing. Matter (in a void/chaotic state) is eternal for all of them. In the beginning it must therefore have been merely crafted, and thus the need for a Craftsman or...

Re: Kalthoff: Pilate replaces Pliny the Younger
The letter of Pliny The Younger to Caesar appears to me to be fake. This strikes me as the key to it's being faked: There were others possessed of the same folly; but because they were Roman citizens, I signed an order for them to be transferred to Rome. If for some years Pliny (and more importantly...

Re: Paul and the Vision of Isaiah
Perhaps Christianity felt a need to back-date Jesus lifetime whereby to make it appear that Philo's conceptualizations with regard to 'two powers' came post, as opposed to coming pre-Jesus. And thereby to avoid some potentially serious embarrassment for the new Christian movement. And perhaps Paul w...

Re: Paul and the Vision of Isaiah
Was Philo a closet supporter (or perhaps even the initiator) of a 'Two Powers in Heaven' 'revival' movement from which Christianity eventually (and potentially post Philo) evolved? If so, Philo may be even closer to the root of Christianity than whomever was the original Paul.

Re: Paul and the Vision of Isaiah
Could Peter and Paul be but two aspects of Simon Magus? Perhaps something akin to the two sides of a coin. Isn't there a Patristic reference to Simon being OK with being called by just about any name one wishes to label him by?

Re: First Corinthians 10 (and just a bit of 11)
Paul knows the Scriptures of Israel (at least in Greek) well and also knows something of Greek rhetoric and Greek culture. But he is not a systematic theologian and is, in effect, writing a new constitution for a new kind of society – Gentile Christianity – that is really only an idea he has in his...

Re: "Immar-Yah" => " 'Immr-ya" => "Marya"
"Immar-El" is starting to come somewhat close to Emmanuel. Might that have been Jesus name while he was alive?

What is the 'human' name of your proposed 'Jesus'?
