Re: the definite article "*the* Son of man" v 'son of man'
I haven't read these but, having just found them, I thought I may as well put them here for prosperity posterity - Maurice Casey (1981) ' Son of Man: The Interpretation and Influence of Daniel 7 ' SPCK; London. 272 pp. (a revised version of Casey's 1977 PhD thesis) Maurice Casey (2009) The Solution ...

Re: Fishing for humans.
. Could it be related to Matt 17:24-27? There is reference to it in this post of Ben's in the thread about the epistle of the apostles - http://www.earlywritings.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=42381#p42381 (Interestingly, Joseph Atwill relates Matt 17:24-27 to Wars 5, 15, 548 "where Josephus descri...

Re: The gospel of mark as story
Mary Beard discussed how the Romans, in tackling insurgencies, thought themselves as not really being brutal, but bringing peace. Might the gospel of Mark be an attempt to use pre existing Roman and Greek and Jewish ideas of the ethical and good life into a post war zone? I formally propose it is a...

Re: Lena Einhorn - A Shift In Time
Yes, the gospel writers wrote pseudo-history. But to assume that their pseudo-history had no relevance for Jewish history is perhaps to assume too much. And to assume the gospel-writers' pseudo-history has relevance to the Jewish history you want the gospels to have relevance to is also perhaps too...

Re: Mark 16:9-20 as Forgery or Fabrication by Richard Carrie
. I think this is a significant statement - The fact of the matter is that Mark's text (even in the damaged form that reaches us) is an important historical witness that the coming together of the Paulines and Petrines, to borrow Baur's naming convention, did not happen until after the earliest can...

Re: 3-Year Ministry Timeline of Jesus
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Jewish%E2%80%93Roman_War The Great Revolt began in the year 66 CE, originating in Roman and Jewish ethnic tensions. The crisis escalated due to anti-taxation protests and attacks upon Roman citizens. Maybe mr Bernard does not comprehend what Roman and Jewish ethn...
