Re: Judas the Galilean of Nazareth
Bottom line is that there is no evidence that supports Unterbrink re his assertion that Judas the Galilean was a historical figure... Geez Louise, mh! You're as bad as Stephan's Marcion, or Caesar's Ghost. I am not so sure that YOU exist anymore. You are an apparition of Aristobulus II Matthias ......

Re: Judas the Galilean of Nazareth
Ahh, I'm starting to get what Unterbrink is saying. Jesus of Nazareth and John the Baptist in the NT gospels are fictional characters based on Judas the Gaulonite and Sadduc the Pharisee, who rose up a revolt in the time when Quirinius was conducting his census (6 CE, Ant 18.2-10). Characteristics o...

Two other initial impressions. 1. Are we to take Slavonic Josephus seriously as a historical source - or as evidence for an alternative form of the AJ in the period before Origen? I thought Slavonic Josephus is generally regarded as a later, Christianized reworking. 2. ... Ramelli goes on to say th...

Re: Judas the Galilean of Nazareth
If Unterbrink is correct that Judas was the revolutionary upon whom the Christian faith was based, who was crucified in 19 CE (or whatever), and the text of Josephus was fiddled with in Constantine's time to make this association impossible, I can see it as possible but for a variety of reasons it ...

Re: Acts as fiction by Richard Carrier
Luke copies Mark. Mark is post-70. Luke also uses Josephus' Antiquities which puts him in the 90's. The author did not know Paul and does not even know his letters. Luke did not know any witnesses or interview any witnesses. This is pretty much all settled scholarship." I don't know that Mark ...

Re: Is the Rejection of Jewish Origin for Xristianity = Lazi
Perhaps you feel I didn't see it because I am suffering from cognitive dissonance or perhaps I already addressed it in the past and it is you that didn't see it because you are suffering from cognitive dissonance ? Well, you helped answer the question about whether you have ever read anything by Le...

Re: Is the Rejection of Jewish Origin for Xristianity = Lazi
The answer once again is cognitive dissonance: Rejection of factual information that is inconsistent with their false beliefs. Again, rejection of factual information that is inconsistent with one's beliefs is ONE of several DEFENSE MECHANISMS that an individual might EMPLOY IN RESPONSE TO cognitiv...
