Re: Luke prior to Gospel of Marcion ?

SA- I walk in Peace today 'cos I really would like to read your opinion on this: 1. Marcion is born in The Pontus, 15 years after Mucianus taxed the taxes of the taxed and took the "best Liburnian ships" with which to March on Rome. This left a vacuum which was filled by Anicetus, who set ...

Re: 'N what about Jairus' Daughter? Lazarus?

Paul is not (necessarily) saying that no one has ever been raised from the dead before; he is saying that no one had ever been raised to eternal life (an incorruptible body) before (= the "general resurrection"). Ben- Kinda' sounds like all of this was supposed to be Pre-Destinated, huh? ...

Re: 'N what about Jairus' Daughter? Lazarus?

I agree. We could discuss "Symbolic Constructs" all day long but the texts are interesting in their own ways. "Lazarus" is unusual. Hosea 6: 1 - 2 (RSV): [1] "Come, let us return to the LORD; for he has torn, that he may heal us; he has stricken, and he will bind us up. [2] ...

'N what about Jairus' Daughter? Lazarus?

Romans 8: 29 (RSV): [29] For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the first-born among many brethren. It's not only a matter of Paul finding out about a "Resurrection". What about Jarius' Daughter? Lazarus? What are t...

Re: Giuseppe on MacDonald & Ferguson on the Josephs

My true problem is the absence of Joseph of Nazaret in Mark 6:3. Perhaps a Symbolic Review is in order. What would you see as the reason for the wording of this passage? Consider: "What mighty works are wrought by his hands !" "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own countr...

Re: Giuseppe on MacDonald & Ferguson on the Josephs

Coupla' thoughts: 1. Joseph Arimathea => Joseph bar Matthias. From Atwill. A possibility for further research. 2. Before jumping off into Homerville, look at other "Salome" characters first, esp. "Queen Salome" (NOT Salome Alexandra), who was married to Jannaeus. 3. If J of A too...

That Mucianus fellow was a very busy...ummm...man, so to speak.
