Re: Christ as Stranger - From Patripassianism?
IF (and its a big IF) the Marcionite gospel had son of man passages, THEN like Revelation 1:13 and Rev 14:14 they would have vorrectly said "one like unto a son of man" not "the son of man." There you did it again. You keep doing it. Where is the evidence for this? I am glad tha...

Re: Christ as Stranger - From Patripassianism?
Let me phrase it another way. Do you have any ancient sources to confirm your claim that:
Why shouldn't we believe that the Marcionite gospel had 'Son of Man' passages?Luke was edited by the orthodox to create this "the son of man."

Re: Christ as Stranger - From Patripassianism?
I just mentioned it. No you didn't. I think you are incapable of seeing how you work by assertion. You wrote: Because Luke was edited by the orthodox to create this "the son of man." You can't just cite your assumption again as proof that this isn't an assertion. It is an assertion and ha...

Re: Christ as Stranger - From Patripassianism?
Marcion took the OT literally Another assertion. Evidence? and there are no demons in the OT. Untrue. First of all the 'Old Testament' is a Christian concept. Demons do appear in canonical Jewish texts (or at least canonical for various Jewish communities) - (Jub. 7.27, 10.1,1 En. 19.1, 99.7 etc לִ...

Re: Christ as Stranger - From Patripassianism?
Very few references to Jesus as the 'Son of God' in Book 4. By far the majority of references to him as a 'son' pertain to the 'Son of Man.' An example of some of the few references is found in chapter 20: But of which god did the legion testify that Jesus is the son? Surely, of that God whose torme...

Re: Christ as Stranger - From Patripassianism?
Yes I am certain that happenedCouldn't that imply the orthodox (along with jews) were conflating El Elyon with Yahweh and perhaps the Marcionites kept them separate

Re: Christ as Stranger - From Patripassianism?
Absolute nonsense. The Father and Son together are identified as the second power by Tertullian, Irenaeus, and arguably even Justin, for all assert that Marcion's second god is the Father of Jesus and distinct from the creator

Re: Christ as Stranger - From Patripassianism?
Well not exactly. For me it's always stuck in deciding what we know and what we don't know - like an impotent man who is stuck in foreplay. What do we know for sure or almost for sure. Like Oprah I will say, 'these things we know for sure (or almost for sure) about Marcion: 1. Marcion was somehow as...
