Re: Luke's remains
Part of the lack of interest may be that the find can tell us absolutely nothing. I think it is possibly more significant than you suggest. At the very least, it can tell us is that the first century Christian church regarded this man as important enough to protect and venerate his remains, with us...

Re: Luke's remains
First century? Not necessarily. That's the end of the radiocarbon dating range. It's only likely to be first century if we assume the remains are of a Christian (and, ofc, that Christians are 1st century in origin). What seems reasonably certain is that these remains have been venerated by "th...

Re: Luke's remains
Male? Of course it's male. First century? Not necessarily. That's the end of the radiocarbon dating range. Hi Peter. I've never seen that range before, and am curious where you are getting that from. I mean are you saying here the creationists got one thing right when they blasted the accuracy of r...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/italy/1360095/DNA-test-pinpoints-St-Luke-the-apostles-remains-to-Padua.html It's odd the way this newspaper (which you might expect to be secular and fact-oriented) doesn't allow the experts quoted to speak for themselves. All the quotes suggest cauti...

Re: A collection of witnesses to the Marcionite texts.
Even if we're not assuming any kind of direct correspondence between the canonical gospels and the Evangelion, it would be very helpful to have this indexed to the chapter or verse numbers. Well, of course. All in good time: IMO, what would be nice are side-by-side quotations of Tertullian, Epiphan...

Re: An Illustration for DCH (Two Powers and Marcionism)
This long and prolix citation of sources without providing any clear-cut clues as to what the heck it all means is why DCH says you (Secret Hüller aka Stephen Alias) have "gone over to the dark side". The Skipster :whistling: Where's the "Like" or "Agree" button where ...

Re: My review of Richard Carrier's "On the Historicity of Je
I hope everyone does know that the definition of Euhemerism means complete diddly squat outside of anything but the definition of Euhemerism. That's just the way definitions are. They change nothing but our language for describing things. That being the case, it's strange how involved people are in ...
