Re: Transfiguration == original crucifixion in the Earliest Gospel

John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know."

John did not say “but among you stands one you know, but who is the son of one you do not know."

It is Jesus that John is referring directly to. Not to an absent third party.

Re: The Paraclite is Marcion

Name calling is the weakest form of argument. I am not a Christian, nor a Christian apologist. But whatever my faith or philosophy, it should not stop you, Giuseppe, from engaging with me. I am responding to your posts with relevance, counter-points and different perspectives. Disagreement is not th...

Re: Transfiguration == original crucifixion in the Earliest Gospel

John is talking to those sent by the Pharisees, saying that Jesus is among them, but that they are unaware of who he is. You can't use that passage to infer that Jesus was a Jew in proto-John, since it is evidence that Jesus was totally alien for the Jews despite of the his being in that moment alr...

Re: The Paraclite is Marcion

Mark 12:19-22 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife, but leaves no child, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. There were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and when he died left no offspring. And the second took her, and died,...

Re: The Paraclite is Marcion

The fact you can equate the number seven with the number seven does not mean that you can successfully equate the articles themselves. You have moved away from your idea that the seven thunders were John and his six brothers, the seven sons of an "historical father" Zebedee the Zealot and ...

Re: Transfiguration == original crucifixion in the Earliest Gospel

John is talking to those sent by the Pharisees, saying that Jesus is among them, but that they are unaware of who he is. They do not know him. John claimed that he had been sent to baptize at the Jordan inorder for him to see the Spirit descend on someone he did not yet know himself. It was only aft...

Re: The Paraclite is Marcion

Giuseppe, you are a greater fool than Nasruddin. Can you counter my comments without unstructured dismisal? No. Only by name calling can you justify yourself.

And tell me - Where do you see demons recorded as thunder? Did Mary Magdalene have flatulence, that seven thunders were cast out of her?

Re: The Paraclite is Marcion

You seem desperate to make this fit. It all sounds like clutching at weak connections to draw attention away from what is written. 2 Samuel 21:1-6, 9 Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years , year after year; and David inquired of the Lord. The Lord said, ‘There is blood-guilt on...

Re: Transfiguration == original crucifixion in the Earliest Gospel

And who was present at the transfiguration? - Elijah the Prophet and Moses the Lawgiver. Who was present at the baptism? - John the Baptist (Elijah), and the Pharisees and Sadduccees (Lawgivers). it doesn't work. In Mark there is not even a clue of the presence of Pharisees and Sadduccees at the Ba...

Re: Transfiguration == original crucifixion in the Earliest Gospel

A voice from Heaven spoke at both the baptism of Jesus and at the transfiguration. These are the only times this occurs in the Synoptic Gospels. Clearly there is a link. Baptism: Matthew 3:16-17 At that moment heaven was opened , and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on h...
