Re: I have a question..

Hi so, I've been wanting to start reading the church father's writings, and I started in Ignatius of Antioch. I noticed that on this website there are like three different translations of like Ignatius of Antioch to the Smyrnaeans and there was a 'shorter and longer version', so my question is, whi...

I like you. I don't want to appear unkind. You know this is BS. The whole claims of "problems" with the MS. It is what it is. Even the "gay thing." Have you read this? https://secretmarkblog.blogspot.com/2020/04/nonnus-and-secret-mark.html?m=1 I think this closes the book on Secret Mark. Best thing...

Looking into this a bit more; there can be suspicious evidence when writing on old paper. What is known as feathering of ink due to deterioration of the paper. https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=01MqZ3RgoIwC&pg=PA87&lpg=PA87&dq=forgery+feathering+of+ink&source=bl&ots=DuBBE-qYUL&sig=ACfU3U0lkJmmvwDs...

Re: How Could Quesnell in 1983 Have Not Immediately Recognized to Theodore was a Recent Forgery if it Really Was?

IMHO we have to distinguish between the age of the paper used (often approximately obvious on inspection) the type of ink used (often an indicator of true age) and the time when the ink was used on the paper. An attempt to google tests for age of ink seems to indicate that it is difficult to disting...

Just asking. I think it was just the prologue. And maybe the reference to the Paraclete.
Well Heracleon wrote a commentary on John

Re: Is there a Relationship Between Papias's Discussion of Mark's Gospel and the First Book of Against Heresies?

It is possible that the mention of Marcus in Tertullian's anti-Valentinian works is based on the Marcus the Valentinian whom Irenaeus claims performed magical rituals.

Mark 9:29 :
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting

and fasting is probably not original in Mark 9:29
See for example In the name of Jesus

Re: reader knowledge of Jesus origin

Should we not add the lack of a Jesus origin story, including genealogy, as an additional Markan reader's presumption element. If we stick with actual extant writings, this would make Luke and/or Matthew circulating before Mark No. Those elements depend upon the kind of story being told; their abse...

Re: The name that is above every name

This is from 3 Enoch which is a very late source (probably after 500 CE) Parallels with the NT may reflect a Babylonian Jewish response to Christianity. Andrew Criddle I don't know of a reason excluding an earlier date, to be honest. But that's just me. See here for a discussion of the date of 3 En...
