Re: Evolution and the Gospels

The synoptic gospels alone are proof for constant meddling with the text, including redactional changes to make them fit the view of the author(s) and editor(s). I agree, but this „meddling“ happened in different texts (Stephan’s three birds) and not in different editions of one text. I fail to see...

Re: The end of short Mark leads to ...

If that is also part of the parallel it would follow that the women were seeing Jesus himself sitting there. In the same light could be seen the remark in 16:6 of the young man/Jesus that the crucified Jesus the Nazarene is not here, because he is no longer that person, the spirit having been expel...

Re: Evolution and the Gospels

Scholars pretend that the CONVENIENT grouping of four texts for us by Irenaeus is - to borrow from the OP - and example of 'natural variation.' That Mark, Matthew and Luke at least are representations of three species of birds that might be found at Galapacos Island. Again, imho quite the opposite....

Re: Evolution and the Gospels

And also remember defining the Marcionite text as 'X' - in this case proto-Luke, a version of Luke, whatever - based on the testimony of pathological liars helps scholars BECAUSE THEY WANT TO LIMIT DISCUSSION down to knowable commodities. In other words, too bad so sad that Irenaeus said the gospel...

Re: Tertullian and the Alexamenos graffito

However I was reading an article by ILE Ramelli Apuleius and Christianity which mentioned interesting parallels in Tertullian. There is also the pagan claim in Minucius Felix' Octavius IX,3 against Christians Nor, concerning these things, would intelligent report speak of things so great and variou...

Re: Anger Management

Interestingly, "Mark" always connects Jesus' compassion to the crowds (9:22 Jesus is motivated by the crowd ). Agreed. Furthermore, the father is denoted in Mark 9:17 as „ one from the crowd “, in Mark 9:19 Jesus answered to all („them“) after only the father asked a question and in Mark 9:25 Jesus...

Re: Anger Management

Mark used the verb „moved with compassion“ in all three instances with the preposition „ on/upon “ and an object . Mark 6:34 he had compassion on them ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπ' αὐτοὺς Mark 8:2 I have compassion on the crowd Σπλαγχνίζομαι ἐπὶ τὸν ὄχλον Mark 9:22 have compassion on us σπλαγχνισθεὶς ἐφ' ἡμᾶς T...

Re: Why Must You Be Such A Angry Young Man

Order of evidence for "angry": Not decisive arguments but two additional observations. First, the grammatical word usage of „moved with compassion“ in GMark Apart from vers 1:41 Mark used „σπλαγχνίζομαι“ (to be moved with compassion) three times . Mark 6:34 feeding the five thousand 32 And they wen...

Re: The Meaning of Jesus's Crucifixion

In other words, do most of us agree that the crucifixion of Jesus was connected with this historical crucifixion of thousands of Jews around the walls of Jerusalem? I agree with Ben on the specific question, but it seems to me that you are thinking in a broader sense in the better direction. It may...
