Re: Proofs That Jesus Existed

Argument from cosmic noise 1. There is a cosmic microwave background. 2. Modern cosmologists, probably atheists, consider the Big Bang model of the universe to be the best explanation for the CMB. 3. But no one is able to understand this theory. Furthermore the books which established this theory ar...

Re: marks use of phone-megas

I don't know. But it seems to me possible, that - against Luke - for Mark here is "pentecost"-time. We all know that the centurion in Mark 15:39 is the executioner and an enemy, so Mark Goodacres is fully right to read the "confession" as a sarcastic cry . But on the other hand Mark´s use of "idôn" ...

Re: Proofs That Jesus Existed

Argument from Robert H. Stein
(1) Mark 16:6 "Ἰησοῦν ζητεῖτε τὸν Ναζαρηνὸν τὸν ἐσταυρωμένον· ἠγέρθη"
(2) translation according to Robert H. Stein: “He, the one having been crucified, i.e., the historical Jesus of Nazareth, has risen.”
(3) Therefore, Jesus existed.

Re: Evidence for first-century Nazareth?

I don't get why it's such a big deal to Jesus historicists. Surely it's obvious that Nazareth as Jesus' hometown was a mistake over confusion about what "Jesus the Nazorean" meant. Mark seems to imply that Capernaum was his home. It seems so. But I think it must be another town in Mark 6:1. Caperna...

Re: [Forgery] 2 Corinthians 11:32-33 [/Forgery]

This papyrus fragment has 24-27 letters per line and the εως of βασιλεως ("king") would be letters 25-27 of the following line, the last letters of the line. This means that βασιλεως is fairly certain and it follows that everything in between is probable. P46 is evidence in favor of 2 Cor 11:32. fi...
