Re: Abner Kneeland's quote

His blasphemy charges used as evidence quotes from an article in the Boston Investigator, December 20, 1833 : 2. Universalists believe in Christ, which I do not; but believe that the whole story concerning him is as much a fable and a fiction as that of the god Prometheus, the tragedy of whose death...

Re: Did Marcionism Feature in the Heretical Disputes of the Fourth Century?

If anyone knows of an online English translation in full of the "Panarion" please link to it. Many thanks. The link below is for Book 1 of Epiphanius's Panarion, which has Chapter 42, his chapter on Marcion: https://web.archive.org/web/20170916133936/http://www.masseiana.org/panarion_bk1....

Re: primus pilus & palat/pallet ⟶ Pilate

But this page made me think of your exploration of PLT: https://www.abarim-publicat...

"Hey Aqualung ..." I say, "as you bend to pick a dog-end" (gawd I hope that is just a British word for some sort of flower). Hmmm, are you eyeing "Cross-eyed Mary"? She'd have to be about 55 years old by now ... :?:  Dog-end is slang over here for a cigarette butt.

Re: Price/Ehrman - Did Jesus Exist? Debate - Oct. 21, 2016

2. Erhman has been quotes as saying this - a. "In the entire first Christian century Jesus is not mentioned by a single Greek or Roman historian, religion scholar, politician, philosopher or poet. His name never occurs in a single inscription, and it is never found in a single piece of private...

Re: Alternating Marcionite and synoptic priority & posterior

There is another problem: most fruit trees in temperate or mediterranean climate produce their fruits in the summer, not when the summer is approaching. It is then obvious that "fruit" was added later. "fruit" could not have been in any original gospel copied by Marcion, or &quo...

Re: Loaves and Fishes

Today is Ascension Sunday. Thursday was 40 days after Easter Sunday. At my church today, the opening image was an old painting of the Ascension, with Jesus Christ standing upon the Chi X in the sky as he rose to heaven. If anyone can find the date of this painting I would be grateful. Hi Robert, is...
