Re: Paul was wealthy

Saul/Paul (the self-appointed apostle), collected money from all "his" churches. How is it that Paul's letters were kept and published, yet there are no letters "to him"? He was a Pharisee (according to him) and a Roman citizen (how do you do that?). He began the first "Mega...

Re: The Pauline Gospel was a Late Invention

Dewitness, I think, I hope, I have my head wrapped around what you are saying. Your contention is that Paul based his writings on gMark (crap now ya'll have me putting a g in front of the names); so he had to write after Mark. I hope I have this right; or it's going to be a really long thread; and, ...

Re: The Pauline Gospel was a Late Invention

Dewitness, You are absolutely correct; I am learning and my knowledge is limited. You have already reached the limits of your ability to learn from others; especially those who disagree with you. I hope I never reach that superior limit. I think most of our (including everyone) disagreements about a...

Re: The Pauline Gospel was a Late Invention

Dewitness, First, I did not read all the other posts; only the first; so I would not be distracted from the original idea. You stated, " The earliest Gospel, the earliest Good News, gMark's Good News, had nothing whatsoever to do with salvation by sacrifice or the abolishment of the Laws of the...

Re: new nonsense from Joe Atwill

Did Atwill get his start on this theory from Abelard Reuchlin's "The True Authorship of the New Tesatement?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqjKnnDxRUc

This is getting deeper and weirder.

Re: new nonsense from Joe Atwill

Just because someone is wrong does not mean that they may not be useful to us all. It is those who discourage interest that do the real harm, not the over-enthusiastic fringe people. I read this somewhere, forgot where; "It is not what we don't know that causes most of our ignorance; it is wha...

Re: Why don't the ancient writers date their writings?

The "foe" or what I saw in Christian chat rooms as "block" meant that not only you could not read their posts but that they could not read your posts. If that is the same here; I shall chose my posts very carefully; because I can't learn anything from people who only agree with m...

Why don't the ancient writers date their writings?

I find it unsettling that early christian/Jewish writers don't put dates on their letters. In fact to me when people like Josephus and other so called historians don't put dates on their documents; it makes me think that their "documenting history" is quite absurd.

Re: Ehrman's latest book: Forgery and Counterforgery

I believe Bart Ehrman is writing books for me to consume; not for people who are more learned in biblical writings (ya'll). He has the ability; whether you see it or not; to help us who have been spoon fed bible babble in the pews of the churches; to open our eyes and read what is "really writt...

documents concerning Jesus traveling to India and Kashmir?

Wow, am I out of my pond?! Since I started to seriously study about God and especially Jesus, I have come to feel like a bullfrog in a pond full of tadpoles (christian chat rooms); and now find myself being the tadpole in a pond full of bullfrogs. This is meant to be a compliment. Ya'll are so far a...
