Re: Any thoughts on Tabor's view of a Jewish original Revelation?

... That is the same for the Gospels not copying Paul's writings into them but deriving the life of Jesus from OT sources The Gospel authors may not have [ outright ] copied Paul's writings into them, but there's plenty of scholars who think Mark used Paul: there are several books arguing that prop...

Re: Any thoughts on Tabor's view of a Jewish original Revelation?

I am on the other side, in that the book of Revelation was written by a Christian from the start. It looks Jewish because the writer of Revelation did not have access to any of the NT writings. That is the same for the Gospels not copying Paul's writings into them but deriving the life of Jesus from...

Re: The Book of Revelation is hardly a Christian text

If you're looking for a new project, or perhaps you're just bored, you can have a go at another set of source criticism samples: Wow, that is a lot of work you did. I will take a closer look at it when I get home. I began with using the NASB version of the Bible and hand to revert to the WEB versio...

Re: The Book of Revelation is hardly a Christian text

I will add my two cents to this subject. The Book of Revelation was written from the onset, as a Christian document. However, the source material is derived from the Hebrew Bible (see Overview of how the author of Revelation copied from the OT ). This can be seen when one takes the intersection of t...

Re: New thoughts on the Book of Revelation

The two olive trees and two lampstands of Rev 11:4 is likely an adaptation and re-application of the two olive trees and one lampstand of Zech 4. Has there been anything done on intertextuality between [other] passages in the Book of Revelation and the OT? John incorporates Zechariah chapters 2 to ...

Re: Richard Carrier on the Book of Revelation

Revelation is a book that is a pain to date. No matter what time one is in history, there is always something that someone can connect to a passage in Revelation. I did not base mine on persecutions of Domitian. I based it upon how John incorporates Isaiah chapter 23 into his writing. Keep in mind, ...

Re: Richard Carrier on the Book of Revelation

I agree with Carrier that Revelation was written at the time of Domition, I believe that the last sections written (Rev 13 see https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t96PhK6YPyrbPIxWxdrzw5OK-5Evw85S/view). I see nothing in the book of Revelation in which the author copied from any NT documents. The vast m...

Re: A (pressing) question for RG Price about Mark

It would be nice to find Markan parallels with Acts that do not appear in Luke. I would buy that book.
