Re: Canonical Paul, Acts, and Justin VS Paul, Valentinus, and Marcion

Eusebius have debunked such a notion. The writer admitted he used the Latin version of Tertullian's "Apology". Eusebius' "Church History"3.33.3. We have taken our account from the Latin Apology of Tertullian which we mentioned above. Your interpretation is wrong. This is the sam...

Re: The start of the Jesus story

The evidence from the very NT shows that the so-called Pauline writings are very late--composed after Acts of the Apostles. The following table shows excerpts from the Synoptics. gMark 14 gMatthew 26 gLuke 22 1Corinthians 11 22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and ga...

Re: Canonical Paul, Acts, and Justin VS Paul, Valentinus, and Marcion

In effect, the supposed Eusebius had the very same details about Marcion's preaching 200 years earlier in Justin's Apology. Eusebius' Church History Justin's First Apology 4.11. 9. He speaks as follows: And there is a certain Marcion of Pontus, who is even now still teaching his followers to think ...

Re: Canonical Paul, Acts, and Justin VS Paul, Valentinus, and Marcion

So, it seems that relying on ancient witnesses to know the origin of works beyond the time when they saw them with their own eyes isn't actually reliable. It seems that something written yesterday could have been taken as something written 300 years ago by many people. If what you say is true then ...

That is a better argument!
The quality of my arguments is based on evidence not on opinion.

Re: The start of the Jesus story

It is the NT itself that shows their main character Jesus is fictional. Look at gMark 1. Mark 1 9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit ...

Re: The start of the Jesus story

Anyone who has access to the works of Josephus will see that the story of John the Baptist's baptising people and his death are only found in the 18th book of Antiquities of the Jews which was copied by the authors of the Gospels. The author of gMark used the story of John the Baptist in the 18th bo...

Re: The start of the Jesus story

Once the writings of Josephus are examined it is easily seen that gMark was fabricated after c 94 CE or at least after the writings of Antiquities of the Jews written in the 13th year of Domitian. The Gospel called according to Mark contains characters and events that are only found in the writings ...

Re: The tetrarchies in Luke 3.1-2.

The claim in gLuke that Lysanias was tetrarch of Abilene comes straight out the writings of Josephus which again is evidence gLuke was written no earlier than c 94 CE. Antiquities of the Jews 20.7.1 1. SO Claudius sent Felix, the brother of Pallas, to take care of the affairs of Judea; and when he h...

Re: A peculiar (and mathematical) argument for Lucan priority and Matthean posteriority.

Just to throw out one more example. Luke 11:29-32 was not present in Marcion. This section, about the "sign of Jonah", looks very much like something that had to have been copied by Luke from Matthew. The whole thing is almost identical between the two in ways that its extremely difficult...
