Would he have deliberately changed the more sophisticated Greek of Luke and Matthew to more unpolished Greek?
Why would he have done that?

Text variations in the 'Way to pray' in Q-lite?
Assuming that the original author of Marcion/Luke knew Matthew and both authors used Q-lite (shorter version of Q) for writing their gospels, why do Marcion, final Luke and Matthew have differences in the text of Q 11: 2b-4 (Matthew 6: 9-13)? Marcion and early canonical Luke have "Let your Holy...

Re: Special gMatt material in gMarcion?
This is the model I prefer at present: * Q-lite written as non-christian (anti-religious) mystical teachings and instructions to a mystic mission for traveling missionaries with Jesus as their realized Master. * aMark writes the first syncretic religious narrative at a time when Q-lite was still bei...

Re: A Summary History of Christian Origins?
A history of Christian origins that looks something like this, Stephan, might account for all that (and much else). (A) RELATIVELY INDEPENDENT (with some possible interaction) IN THE PERIOD UP TO THE YEAR 70 1) Possibly Nazoreans , or possibly Jacob-(the-Just)-ians, or possibly Galilean Cynics, or ...

Re: Why was invented Paul?
The birds would be the impostors who spoke in name of ''Paul'' wanting to take advantage of his authority.. I think that that passage in Mark reveals already a scenario where it's known by ''Mark'' that Paul's letters are interpolated by christians of different factions. Dear me. Of all the 'connec...

Re: Earliest Jesus stratum?
The assimilation of Matthew into Luke could have happened by the redactor of the 'gospel of the Lord' that Marcion used. In the three-source hypothesis the idea is that the author of Luke knew Matthew, but if Luke was redacted I would be interested to know at which redaction level(s) Matthew was ass...

Re: Who's the Source, "Luke"? -- A Basic Stylometric Study
Burton Mack uses the stratification also.
If you can show that the Q2 and Q3 sections of Kloppenborg's Q were copied into Luke from Matthew and hence were never in Q, this would make for a much "neater" (more uniform) Q (e.g. without narrative text), more like the sayings gospel Thomas.

Re: Who's the Source, "Luke"? -- A Basic Stylometric Study
Better methods for deciding how to excerpt from the Gospel of Luke, better ways of sampling the other texts (other than taking the entire gospels of Matthew and gospel of Mark as the basis of statistics), or better factors for discrimination than single word frequencies may provide better results. ...

Re: The Outhouse Interpretation of Paul's Letters
The problem here is, no one wants to admit to and follow any kind of historical foundation and build from there. If there is no "historical foundation" to be found you will have to admit that your idea about the formation of those scriptures is biased and wrong. The Pauline epistles have ...
