Re: The Antitheses and the origin of Luke

Andrew, what things led you to this position? Ken, same question for you? I would appreciate any insight you could offer. Re: The Temptation Story in Mark is anti-marcionite

Marcion interpreted this verse to mean docetism : Jesus only appeared to be in the sinful flesh. No need of a Temptation Story because the divine Jesus was immunized a priori to it. Mark interpreted this verse to mean humanity of Jesus: Jesus was really 'in the sinful flesh', hence he problem had t...

Yes, I've been reading a lot of Origen lately, and that is one approach he sometimes uses.

Re: The Antitheses and the origin of Luke

It's one thing for Marcion to say 'this was the original, that was an interpolation' when he does not know. It's another thing if Marcion originated the gospel text and wanted it to be accepted. In that case, transparency is unexpected. IMHO Marcion explicitly presented his Gospel text as a critica...

I know that. I think everybody knows that.

Ben C. Smith, however, whom you seem to respect, had no relevant academic credentials (as you know).

Re: The Temptation Story in Mark is anti-marcionite

The comment "And we can only answer this question by appealing to polemical concerns" is not well argued.
